Red Raspberries

Orr’s Red Raspberries are harvested at two times. A light early crop in  late June and a second heavier crop from August through late September. It’s best to call before coming to make sure they are plentiful, since their season is so varied.

Red Raspberry Vinegar


1 cup Raspberries
1 cup White Cider Vinegar


Stem and gently rinse raspberries. Place in a quart glass jar and add vinegar. Cover jar and let mixture stand for five days at room temperature. Strain through a sieve and discard seeds and residue. Pour vinegar into a glass bottle and seal. Store in a cool dry place.



Red Raspberry Banana Blast Smoothie

Serves 3


1 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup cold skim milk
1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
2 Tbsp. honey
1 banana
1/4 tsp. vanilla
6-8 crushed ice cubes

Place berries and 1/2 cup milk in blender. Blend on high for one minute or until smooth. Add remaining milk, yogurt, honey, banana, and vanilla. Blend for another minute. Add crushed ice cubes. Blend slowly until smooth.




Red Raspberry Salad Dressing


1 cup raspberries, pureed
2 Tbs. red wine vinegar
3 drops sesame oil
1 Tbs. horseradish(optional)
1 tsp. grated lime rind
2 Tbs. lime juice
Dash salt

Combine ingredients in a bowl and season to taste with
salt and pepper. Excellent for fruit, as well as salad greens.
